Introduction to Arduino Workshop @ ENGR 292

Intro ArduinoThis workshop is for complete beginners to Arduino. David Cruz will guide you while you get to create your very first Arduino project. All parts and components needed will be provided at the workshop.

About the Facilitator
David Cruz is a Mechanical Engineer at SJSU with a heavy focus on mechatronics.  Fiddles a lot with Arduino, raspberryPi, 3D printing and has built many small robotics projects.

Time and Location
There will be 2 sections offered. Both are offered on Thursday November 17, 2016.
Section 1: 3pm-4pm
Section 2: 4:30-5:30

Price
SCE members – $5
Non SCE members – $ 10
Price include Arduino Board, connecting cable, and components needed for the project covered in workshop.
Payment will be accepted at sign-in together with the handout of the kit.

EA Tour

This tour will introduce EA’s campus and the work environment of a Software Engineer in the game development industry.

Time and Location
The tour will be in at the EA campus at 1pm-2pm on

Hello Everyone!

It’s that time of the semester again. Finals are quickly approaching, and projects and homework are piling up. To give you some extra energy for this last full week of classes, SCE will have the classic breakfast buffet with bagels, cream cheese, and juice.
The breakfast will be offered Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week.

While you take a quick break to have breakfast, why not take the opportunity to do your SOTES? 😉 The department is listening to all of your evaluations, including your written comments! Fill them out, they make a difference! While your at it, have a bite on us!

SCE is starting out with their workshops once again. We will be starting this semester by holding an Intro to Arduino Workshop! Please come out and learn new skills with our officers!

The workshop will be held on Monday, February 13th in ENGR 292 at the Engineering Building at 3:00PM.

You don’t have to be a member to sign up. Please apply in our sign up form below. The arduinos will be distributed at the beginning of the workshop.

Prices:

  • $5 for members
  • $10 for nonmembers

Are you feeling lucky? Need that extra lucky for push to study for midterms? Not to worry, SCE is proud to annouce that we will be having a Pot Of Gold Sale starting next week, Monday March 13th – 17th just in time for St. Patrick’s day! Just come by the office and grab your bag of goods.
Each bag will be sold for $1 or three for $2.
There’s a limited supply so please come by and grab yours soon!

SCE is also proud to announce that we will be having a very special Movie Night and evening social on the day of St. Patrick’s Day. We will be featuring Boondocks Saints. PCB Workshop @ ENGR 292

The PCB workshop will introduce the basics of PCB design, manufacturing, and component sourcing. We will be going through the basics of how to use DipTrace, how to manufacture your PCB using Bay Area Circuits or Osh Park, as well as how to find components using mouser and digikey.

The workshop will be run by Khalil Estell who is the executive advisor of the Software and Computer Engineering Society. Please come by and learn more about him at the workshop. Hope to see everyone there!

This workshop is for beginners who wish to learn the ins and outs of Git and how to use it in your programming workflow is a version control system (VCS) for tracking changes in computer files and coordinating work on those files among multiple people. It is primarily used for software development, but it can be used to keep track of changes in any files.

Facilitator, Matthew Boyd, will be guiding you how to use Git and how to work with Github in your programming career. Please come out and see what this workshop has to offer.
