SCE Has Moved To ENGR 294

You may have noticed that SCE is no longer where it used to be. SCE has moved to Engr 294 (second floor of the engineering building, right next to the main elevators). The room is still being remodeled but we still have plenty of tablespace, food/snacks and drinks, and small lockers. Feel free to stop by! We hope to have the rest of the room finished by the end of September.

POSITION SUMMARY
Ascendent Systems, a subsidiary of Research In Motion, is creating a
Quality Assurance team in our Redwood Shores, California office to
validate our suite of Enterprise Voice Mobility products. QA
Specialists will be involved in identifying test requirements,
developing test plans, creating detailed test procedures, performing
various test cases (feature, use case, performance) and defining and
implementing automation tools. They will also find and log defects and
ensure that fixes adequately correct system behavior. These students
will work closely with Development to understand product design and
translate that knowledge into proper testing strategy and will also
have a critical troubleshooting role in issue escalation from customer
support. THIS POSITION WILL BEGIN IN JUNE 2007.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform manual and/or automated test cases, document reviews, and defect tracking.
• Develop, review, implement and maintain quality assurance procedures and processes
• Effectively communicate status and issues with Development, Product Management and other cross functional groups
• Create, review and maintain test plans and test procedures for
validation areas and perform quality criteria assessment for each
release
• Participate in customer support issue escalation troubleshooting and analysis. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Currently
enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer
Engineering or a related discipline at the Intermediate level with the
Co-op or Internship option
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft OS
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
ADDITIONAL ASSETS
• Knowledge of/or previous experience with PBX/ACD switching environments
• Knowledge of PRI, ISDN, PSTN, T1, E1 protocols
• Knowledge of/or previous experience with SIP and VOIP router/gateway technology (i.e. Cisco)
• Knowledge of/or previous experience with email systems (i.e. Outlook, Lotus, Groupwise)
• Experience with web servers (i.e. Tomcat, WebSphere, IIS)
